Why We Prescribe Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Posted on April 27, 2017

Why We Prescribe Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

As you may know, our team at Absolute Wellness Center offers multiple natural therapeutic techniques to help people overcome physical challenges and/or maintain their peak health. One of these categories of care, physical therapy and rehabilitation, can prove immensely helpful in getting you back on your feet again following a sports injury, surgical procedure or debilitating chronic ailment.

Eugene Physical TherapyWhen a patient comes to our Eugene office with a health problem that has left them with limited physical function or chronic pain, we aim to reverse those issues safely and in a non-invasive way. While chiropractic adjustments can help restore spinal function (a critical factor for recovery and ongoing wellness), the adjustment may not hold for very long unless the supporting muscles have the necessary strength to keep you standing tall and straight.

Training the core muscles of the lower abdomen can strengthen those muscles so they can do their job properly. Cardio training is also helpful for strengthening the heart and restoring physical stamina, while resistance exercises and weight training allow us to focus on improving function and strength in one particular joint or muscle system. Stretches can reverse stiffness and increase range of motion, especially in conjunction with massage. We may prescribe a combination of these exercises based on your individual needs.
