What is Spinal Decompression?

Posted on January 25, 2017

At Absolute Wellness Center in Eugene, we offer spinal decompression therapy for our patients suffering chronic pain and spinal injuries. This therapy is non-surgical and non-invasive technology. Non-surgical spinal decompression therapy is approved by the FDA for the treatment of lower back pain. It has been deemed safe and effective, and has enabled thousands of people to find relief from their pain and resume their normal active lifestyles. Studies have indicated that this procedure has a remarkable success rate and is so effective that patients who have had chronic pain for many years actually feel relief after only a few treatments.

What are the Benefits of Spinal Decompression?

Eugene chiroparctor treats spinal decompressionBefore non-surgical spinal decompression was introduced, patients with a personal injury, sports injury or other painful back problem were usually prescribed pain medications and scheduled for physical therapy. When this treatment method was not successful, they were scheduled for back surgery, which may or may not have addressed the pain issue.

Today, spinal decompression therapy is available as a great alternative to back surgery and is effective for the relief of pain from herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and can even help pain from a previous back surgery that was unsuccessful. There are clinical studies that indicate this is a successful way to treat uncomfortable lower back issues, and thousands of patients have found pain relief with this method.

The cost-effective, non-invasive procedure can possibly eliminate the need for surgery. The non-surgical therapy decompresses the discs in the back to relieve the pressure that causes the pain.

To determine if you are a candidate for non-surgical spinal decompression therapy, contact Absolute Wellness Center and Dr. Michael Herb, DC, DACBSP will set up an appointment for a thorough exam with plenty of time to discuss your options. Absolute Wellness Center offers chiropractic medicine, sports medicine, naturopathic medicine, physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, and massage in Eugene, OR.
