Posted on April 30, 2019

WebMD posted a fun article on smiles. Those people with big, genuine smiles benefit in more ways than you might expect. Studies have shown that smiling portrays confidence, an outgoing nature, and even intelligence. Those who smile more are more likely to be successful in life, find a romantic partner, and make friends.

Benefit of Smiling 2Also of this sounds great, but what if you aren’t in a place where you want to smile, either right now or generally? We may fear faking a smile is hiding our feelings or will look worse than waiting until it feels genuine. Studies have shown that forcing yourself to smile when you are feeling blue can actually improve your mood and outlook! Your brain activity looks the same whether you are smiling unintentionally or forcing yourself to. Further, studies have found that faking a smile will actually improve your mood!  Apparently, fake it ’til you make it is a real thing, and something you can use to make your moment, your day, and even your life better!
