Christina Haywood, Licensed Acupuncturist

Christina Haywood, LAc completed her Bachelor’s degree in psychology at ASU before changing her career path to focus on her Master’s in Traditional Chinese Medicine at OCOM in Portland, Oregon. Growing up in Hawaii, she had a passion for the outdoors from a young age, a passion that has continued on into adulthood. For the past ten years she has been calling Oregon home and enjoyed exploring all the state has to offer.

She has a history as a competitive swimmer, but since that time she enjoys an active lifestyle without competition. “As long as I am moving my body, I am happy. If I can use the world as my gym, even better.” Traveling is a huge passion of hers with trekking/hiking being the main pull to different locations around the world.

Christina uses a scientific minded focus of acupuncture for Sports Medicine, pain, injury, and surgical recovery. After recovering from three major knee surgeries beginning in 2019, she has very intimate knowledge of the recovery process and all of its difficulties. The road to recovery can be long, it is hard, and it takes a team. Acupuncture was a huge part of the recovery process for her and she wants to use this experience to help others get back to the things that they love to do.

What to expect from an acupuncture treatment

Acupuncture in Eugene, ORAn acupuncturist will place fine, sterile needles at specific acupoints. This safe and painless insertion of the needles provides adequate nourishment to cells, organs, glands, tissues and muscles. This can eliminate pain and restore balance and harmony, as well as the body’s ability to heal itself—ultimately leading to optimal health and well-being. Everyone is unique in how acupuncture feels to them. Some say acupuncture is “painless,” while others can find it to be momentarily uncomfortable. It is not uncommon for patients to become deeply relaxed or even fall asleep. If you are not comfortable with acupuncture, you can choose other non-needle methods that are also effective. Treatment typically takes 45 minutes to an hour.
